The Craft

A 4-season addition keeps the light, views, and relaxed character of a porch while adding an insulated enclosure. The goal is a more comfortable porch-style space across the seasons, rather than a conventional bedroom or general room addition. We plan the insulation, windows, air sealing, and any heating or cooling together around how you want to use the space.

How We Work

From first visit to final fit

01

Set the comfort goals

We review the home, the site, your intended use, and the difference between an insulated enclosure and an uninsulated 3-season porch.

02

Design the whole enclosure

Structure, insulation, windows, moisture control, mechanical coordination, permitting needs, and pricing are resolved together.

03

Build and hand off

We coordinate the agreed work and inspections, finish the porch-style details, and review operation and maintenance with you.

The Details

Where the craftsmanship shows

Insulation as a complete system

Comfort depends on the floor, walls, roof, glazing, and air sealing working together. We plan the enclosure as a whole rather than treating windows alone as the upgrade.

Still feels like a porch

Generous views, daylight, and a clear relationship to the yard preserve the porch character. This offering is distinct from a conventional room addition.

Comfort defined before construction

We discuss use, exposure, and heating or cooling needs during design. Any mechanical work and performance expectations are identified in the agreed scope.

Common Questions

Good to know

How is a 4-season addition different from a 3-season addition?

The key difference is insulation. Our 3-season spaces are uninsulated window enclosures; our 4-season spaces use an insulated enclosure planned for greater comfort across seasons.

Is this a conventional room addition?

No. This service focuses on insulated spaces that retain the character and outdoor connection of a porch, rather than a conventional bedroom or general room addition.

Does it automatically include heating and cooling?

No. We assess comfort goals and discuss an appropriate approach during design. Any heating or cooling work is explicitly included in the agreed scope.

Can an existing porch become a 4-season space?

Sometimes, but adding insulation and windows is not the whole job. We assess the structure, floor, roof, moisture control, and house connection before recommending a conversion.
